| Debt Free has been involved in many special events, ranging from small fundraising projects to much larger educational credit and debt counseling programs. In the late 1990's, Debt Free's board of directors took note of the alarming growth in consumer debt. This growth has led to an all-time high in personal bankruptcy filings in the United States. In 1997, this alarming trend prompted the board's recommendation that Debt Free become involved in assisting the American public by educating them on how to properly manage their personal finances. |
